The Deputy Consul General of the UK in Jerusalem, Alison McEwen, visited the occupied West Bank to observe the growing issue of illegal Israeli settlements and violence against Palestinians.

During her visit to the Burqa village in Ramallah and the Ein Samiya region, she stood in solidarity with Palestinians and emphasized that the expansion of settlements and violence in Area C is undermining the possibility of a two-state solution.

McEwen called the settlements illegal and highlighted the harassment faced by Palestinians from illegal Israeli settlers.

She urged Israeli authorities to hold these settlers accountable, ensuring the peaceful existence of Palestinians.

Representatives from various countries, including the UK, EU, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Finland, Belgium, Sweden, Canada, and Norway, also visited Burqa and Ras at-Tin amid accelerating rates of settler violence and following the demolition by Israeli authorities of donor-funded humanitarian structures, including a school in the nearby community of Ein Samiya,” the British Consulate-General in Jerusalem said on X.

The West Bank’s divisions into Areas A, B, and C under the 1995 Oslo Accords were also mentioned, with the majority of the West Bank falling under Israel’s control.
