Palestinian prisoners  incarcerated at the “Ofer” prison decided on Sunday, September 3, 2023, to take a series of actions, including closing sections, returning their meals, and pursuing organizational representation changes.

In a joint statement released on Sunday evening, the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, along with the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club, explained that this move is in response to the Israeli prison administration’s decision to move 120 high-sentence prisoners to collective isolation.

120 Palestinian prisoners who are handed high sentences will be transferred from Israel’s Nafha prison to a harsher collective isolation section.

Early morning on Sunday, the Palestinian prisoners’ movement stated that some 1,000 Palestinian prisoners decided to begin a mass hunger strike in response to Ben Gvir’s reduction of family visits.
