An Israeli airstrike hit the roof of Al-Shifa Hospital, the largest medical facility in the Gaza Strip, on Monday, damaging its solar panels and causing a partial blackout, witnesses and hospital officials said.

The strike was part of a series of Israeli attacks on Gaza’s power and water infrastructure, which have left the besieged territory with severe shortages of electricity, fuel and clean water amid a worsening humanitarian crisis.

According to witnesses, the Israeli airstrike targeted the emergency department building of Al-Shifa Hospital, where many of the wounded from the ongoing Israeli offensive are treated. The strike hit the solar panels on the roof, which provide backup power to the hospital in case of outages.
