The Head of the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza, Ambassador Mohammed Al-Emadi, has succeeded in mediating an agreement between ‘Israel’ and the Gaza Strip to reopen the main Gaza crossing, Beit Hanoun-Erez in northern Gaza, according to the Associated Press.

Al-Emadi was quoted as saying that Qatar has reached an agreement to de-escalate the situation between the Israeli occupation and the Gaza Strip, resulting in the reopening of the Beit Hanoun crossing for thousands of Palestinian workers for the first time in over two weeks.

Earlier on Thursday, ‘Israel’ announced it had reopened the crossing for Palestinian workers after it had been closed for over two weeks.

Hundreds of Palestinian workers flocked to the Beit Hanoun crossing in the early hours of Thursday upon the announcement of its normal operation.

‘Israel’ claimed it had closed the crossing designated for residents’ movement in the background of continuing peaceful protests at the Gaza fence. Meanwhile, it has tightened its grip on the West Bank amid nationwide celebrations marking a series of Jewish Holidays.

At the Gaza fence, Palestinian youths join public demonstrations against Israel’s longstanding blockade on the Gaza Strip and ongoing Israeli crimes against Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem.

The youths usually confront heavily armed soldiers by using tools of peaceful and public resistance such as raising Palestine flags, releasing incendiary balloons, and hurling stones.
