Is Israel a democracy? – Middle East Monitor

Israeli protesters in London, who gathered to ‘defend Israeli democracy’, were asked whether Israel was indeed a democracy to begin with. The irony of such protests is that there is no Israeli democracy for Palestinians in the West Bank, who have no say over the government of a country that has so much control over their lives, and frequently violates their human rights. While many Israelis at the protest accept that ending the decades-long Israeli military occupation is important, the issue of the current government and judicial reform is generally regarded as more of a priority.
