During the month of July 2023, a record number of 6,558 settlers stormed the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, marking the highest number since the beginning of the year compared to previous months.

On Monday, July 31, 2023, 133 Israeli settlers, protected by Israeli occupation forces, conducted two rounds of incursions, one in the morning and another in the evening.

These settlers engaged in provocative tours inside the mosque, receiving explanations about the alleged “temple” and performing Talmudic rituals in its eastern part.

The incursions coincide with escalating tensions as extremist settlers are determined to establish the alleged “temple” amidst unprecedented preparations with full support from the right-wing Israeli government.

The situation at the Al-Aqsa Mosque remains highly sensitive, with daily violations and incursions by settlers, in an attempt to exert full control over the site both temporally and spatially.

Last Thursday, 2,180 settlers, led by the extremist Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, stormed the holy site, commemorating what they refer to as the “destruction of the temple.”

This invasion came in response to calls by settler organizations, who had been working for weeks to mobilize large-scale incursions to the mosque grounds to commemorate the event.
